Star Wars Sequel Trilogy due in 2019?

We know you’ve heard this one before, but this time it’s coming from a source who’s been right many times in the past; especially in regards to Lucasfilm/Star Wars matters. IESB.net is reporting that they’ve heard from their Bothans within the Ranch that the Flanneled OneĀ is planning a new Star Wars trilogy for release about 24 months after the re-release of Return of the Jedi in 2017. Sound far fetched? Not so when you read the article and understand what they are saying is exactly how Lucasfilm operates.

IESB is saying that Lucas will use the 3D re-releases to finance the new trilogy, and that’s par for the course for him. He used the toys, merchandise and “LAST TIME ON VIDEO” VHS release of the Original Trilogy to fund the Special Editions. The profits from those then financed the Prequels. So the upcoming BluRay and 3D releases are obviously not for Lucas’ retirement, so having a new trilogy planned with the money from those projects makes sense.

The question remains; what will the trilogy be about? Lucas has said that the Skywalker story is over, so it’s possible that the trilogy will be set in an era of the Star Wars universe long after Luke, Han, and Leia are gone.

Maybe the Thrawn Trilogy? I hope Lucas doesn’t mess up the expanded universe.

it’s already been ruined. may as well cast megan fox and keanu reeves, they can spend three hours making out between attemps to force-act their way out of a wet paper sack

    I’ll care more if:

    1. Our society is still in existence and functioning by then. And…

    2. I am still alive (and coherent).

Two (additional) words: Kyle Katarn. Ok, I get 2 more since those were technically names: Then: Jedi Academy. -And no, not the game.

While this is extremely AWESOME! I can only imagine how complicated this would be to write with all the expanded universe material out there, and they would upset a LOT of long time fans if they went outside the Expanded Universe and made up there own thing. So I would not be surprised to see something years past the Expanded Universe, 1)It would be easier to write. 2) It would open up for 10X more expanded universe material to be written!

I still think they shouldn’t be sequels. Take us back to the Jedi Civil War, Lucas!! There’s a lot of very dense mythology to be exploited for cash there.

But Im serious. You could do a Malak and Revan story. It could be about the first Jedi council on Tython. As Arnie would say, AH DONT KEEYAH! Just make sure its Old Republic.
