If you think that Lucas isn’t going to tweak the Star Wars movies more for the Blu-Ray release, you’re living in a dream world and need to take the blue pill to wake up. As he’s obviously going to change some things in the movies for their high definition release, here are some things that we think should absolutely be altered.
Han Shoots First

C’mon George, this you have to reverse. And it’s not like there isn’t precedence for it. When the Empire SE was released in theaters, Luke made a sissy cry when he fell down the shaft in Cloud City. Lucas removed that from the DVDs. Han Shot First has become a joke against Star Wars, and he needs to reverse his decision on the Blu-Ray.
CG Yoda in Episode I

ILM and Lucas will never touch the Original Trilogy Yoda puppet. That’s sacred. But they’ve already thrown out the stoned Yoda puppet from Episode I in favor of the CG model used in the other two prequels. It was done as a proof of concept when ILM was convincing Lucas that they could do a CG Yoda in Episode II and it’s so much better than that horrible Phantom Menace puppet that the Blu-Ray must include the CG version.
Han Walks Over Jabba’s Tail

By far the worst effect in all of the Star Wars movies, the “cut out” Han Solo walking over a tail that didn’t exist when they filmed the scene is horrible. It was really bad in the original theatrical SE release, and they improved it a bit on the DVD, but they still can get it better.
White/Green Lightsaber

When they did the DVD of Star Wars, someone messed up on the coloring of Luke’s saber on the Falcon. It’s white with something of a greenish hue, when it should be blue. This is an easy fix that they hopefully get done for the high definition release.
Jedi Rocks

Jedi Rocks is just horrible. Embarrassing even. So much so that you just have to fast forward through the whole thing. If they want to replace the old stiff puppets in the original scene with better CG versions, fine, but the musical number is just horrible and yanks you right out of Jabba’s Palace into a bad Vegas number. It probably won’t get replaced, but it should.
Force Ghosts

Now I don’t personally have a problem with young Anakin appearing as a Force Ghost, as the explanation makes sense.
“You father was seduced by the dark side of the Force. He ceased to be Anakin Skywalker and became Darth Vader. When that happened, the good man who was your father was destroyed.”
As far as Lucas is concerned, Anakin died when he turned to the Dark Side, which is why Anakin appears as a Force Ghost. But naturally people hate this, which is why I included it here.

The “when he became Darth Vader, Anakin died” argument set aside, having him young as a Force Ghost sort of negates the notion that when Vader saved Luke, he was redeemed and became himself again.
If Vader redeemed himself, he became Anakin again…and so, Old Anakin should be the Force Ghost otherwise the redemption means nothing.

good point Sean, and that would be amazing if they fixed the Han/Greedo thing!

so many minor things that should get fixed such as when Luke and Owen are buying R5 and it blows a fuse then they show R2 standing there and the perfectly fine R5 is standing next to him. The dust that comes off of Ben and Vaders sabers everytime they hit together. I could go on and on.

LOL, Lucas is too full of himself to deal with such trivial matters.

“If you don’t think that Lucas isn’t going to tweak the Star Wars movies…” Don’t think”…Isn’t going to?. Why on earth would you write a sentence like this? I don’t think this isn’t bad.

By having the young Anakin and making excuses, Lucas forgets that the big idea was of redemption. The moral of the story is that even the most wicked person can be saved by the power of the Force. Good can overcome evil, always. Darth was redeemed because he gave his life for Luke and thereby allowed the Dark Side to be utterly defeated.
By putting young Anakin in, Lucas is rejecting that huge moral found in countless mythologies and saying that ultimately the Dark Side won. There is no redemption once you give in. He’s gone from a positive message to a defeatist message.
Of course the real reason is that Lucas is just an idiot with no real grasp of what others have read into these stories so he’s just doing whatever he thinks will get people to buy the latest circular piece of plastic with his work on it.

“even the most wicked person can be saved by the power of the Force.”
No. The Force is both good and evil. The most evil person can be saved by choosing to do what’s right…you were close.

No matter your explanations for young ghostly Anakin, I can guarantee, Luke is standing there going “who the hell is this guy?!” Luke only ever knew Black Helmet guy and old Anakin.
Bring Back old Anakin.

Here are the only two fixes required:
1. Take the original cut and burn it to blu-ray (clean up the effects, but don’t “change” anything).
2. Burn the masters from the prequels in a blue trash bin and forget they existed.

Yes yes Han should shoot first.
I also agree with “Jedi Rocks” section. I always kinda liked the Han walking on Jabbas tail scene though :S

People who don’t want Han to have shot first are missing the whole point. It’s to show that he’s a nasty guy, nothing is beneath him if the price is right, but Luke and Obi-wan have no other option. He changes into a better man through having met them. It’s called character development. People who want him to have not shot first just want Han to be a cardboard cut-out bland hero figure that they can worship.

Lucas stuck the young Anakin in at the end just to try and connect the two trilogies together. It could be though that a force ghost gets to choose how they present themselves to the living. As the old Vader represented all of that evil stuff he got up to maybe he wanted to look like his young fun loving self.

Why not just get the original versions and clean it up without removing, adding or replacing anything, just a thought?
If not, why not also airbrush some shades on the Mona Lisa and give her a can of Coke, she looks a bit outdated if you ask me.

Really? You guys are STILL crying about who shot first in the bar? Give me a break! Does it really matter? Yes, I’ve heard the whole thing about Han’s personality, and this, that and the other, but come on already. I don’t think it changes one thing.
Ghostly Anikin should be the older version of Anikin, for the same reason that it was the older Obi-Wan, it’s who they were when they died. The excuses for young Anikin make no sense at all to my mind.
The rest of it…please, some of these are so trivial that even a Fanboy has to step back and go…”That’s being too picky”

Anakin was never a ” Good Man”. He was a spoiled brat who complained constantly when he didn’t get his way. Lucas completely fucked up the back story of Star Wars. Plus, he wasn’t seduced to the dark side, Palpatine fucking tricked him into joining the Dark Side. Anakin was a weak minded fool.
