This morning, Electronic Arts held a conference call for their investors and naturally The Old Republic came up. In an attempt to squash worries that the game would never be profitable, EA revealed that they would only need 500,000 subscribers to turn a profit, but they naturally want more than that. They also said that they wouldn’t really be challenging World of Warcraft, but they don’t want to settle for a distant number two. If they don’t want to challenge WoW, shouldn’t they make the game a bit different?
Also during the call, EA confirmed that the game has been delayed. The game was originally scheduled for “Spring 2011” and has now been moved to “Calendar 2011”, which can place it anywhere between Spring and the end of the year; although September is the currently rumored date.
