It may have been too cool to be true. Darren Aronofsky directing Hugh Jackman once again, only this time it would’ve been Wolverine in Japan? Damn that would have been awesome. Sadly, The Hollywood Reporter is saying it wasn’t meant to be. Aronofsky bowed out of the production because it would’ve taken him out of the country too long:
“As I talked more about the film with my collaborators at Fox, it became clear that the production of The Wolverine would keep me out of the country for almost a year,†Aronofsky said in a joint statement with Fox.
“I was not comfortable being away from my family for that length of time. I am sad that I won’t be able to see the project through, as it is a terrific script and I was very much looking forward to working with my friend, Hugh Jackman, again,†he continued.
The good news is that they are still going forward with the movie, so Frank Miller and Chris Claremont’s Japan saga will finally come to the big screen.
