It’s no surprise to hear that HBO has renewed Game of Thrones for a second season. The first episodes ranked in 4.2 million viewers across its three showings on Sunday night. That broke down into 2.2 million for the first showing, 1.2 million for the second, and 800,000 for the third showing of the night. Compared to other recent HBO shows that’s more than True Blood got in its premier, but a little less than Boardwalk Empire.
It’ll be interesting to see if they maintain the “Game of Thrones” title for the second season, as the original idea was to base each season on one of the books.
