The 1983 movie Brainstorm was a scifi tale of scientists who were able to record people’s memories on a tape for other people to experience. This may not be too far away as scientists have revealed that they can now reconstruct what someone has seen from their brain waves.
ABC News has the full details, but the experiment consisted of someone watching a Youtube video and by using a MRI the scientists were able to reconstruct what the person was seeing. It wasn’t a perfect reconstruction, as it layered all the clips that matched what the brain was seeing, but it’s pretty awesome how close they got it.
We’re still a long way from a perfect recreation like in Brainstorm, but it’s cool to again see science fiction becoming science reality; if just a little bit.
