If you talk to most MMO players they’ll tell you one of the things that hurt WoW the most in the long run was the cross-server dungeon finder. It completely killed the sense of community on servers and reduced people to just sitting in towns as they waited for their dungeon queue to pop. That tool evolved out of the cross-server PVP the game adopted earlier, and now it looks like The Old Republic may be moving in a similar direction.
The Cynical Brit had an interview with BioWare’s Gabe Amatangelo where he grilled him on all aspects of PVP and he brought up the subject of the lack of brackets in TOR’s PVP. Right now there is a level 50 bracket, but BioWare said they won’t add more brackets without opening up the pool of players. That basically means that there won’t be brackets until there’s a cross server PVP system. Cross server PVP leads to a dungeon finder, a dungeon finder leads to hate, and hate leads to suffering!
