Brace yourself for a spoiler from a book that’s over seventy years old. Over the weekend, the LA Times posted a new picture from The Hobbit, and it’s definitely awesome. It’s Bilbo holding Sting in a dark and dank cave, but if you look closely you can see what look like spider legs in the background. He also looks to be talking to the sword, which means this is obviously the Naming of Sting; a very big part in Tolkien lore as the sword is naturally passed down to Frodo in The Lord of the Rings.
“I will give you a name,” he said to it, “and I shall call you Sting.”
