The first season of The Walking Dead was a short six episodes. Season two added seven more for thirteen, and now AMC announced that the third season will feature sixteen episodes. It was part of a press release they put out to remind people that the second season will resume on February 12th:
AMC announced today from the Television Critics Association (TCA) Press Tour in Pasadena, CA that the third season of The Walking Dead will consist of 16 episodes. Previous season orders were for 13 episodes.
The press release did have a typo in it by saying that new episodes begin February 13th. That’s obviously wrong as the 12th is a Sunday and the poster they released does have the 12th date on it.
Hopefully Shane will either be killed by the end of Season Two or in the very first minute of Season Three. He’s long dead in the comics, and his actions throughout the second season so far deserve to be followed up by either Carl shooting him like in the comics or him becoming zombie food.
