A former World of Warcraft Game Master has sued Blizzard for copyright infringement over the voice of the baby Merloc. Amanda Lewis claims that Blizzard is profiting off her voice, which they used for the baby Merloc:
While working at Blizzard, Lewis says, she received an email requesting voices for “World of Warcraft” creatures. She say she “had previously developed a voice, on her own time and through her own creative efforts, [which] she thought would be appropriate for WoW and offered to demonstrate it.”
Unfortunately she should have read the papers she signed when she was hired on to her $12/hour job. If she did she’d know about a policy just about every single gaming company has that anything that’s invented by an employee while there is property of that company. So that means that she’s going to lose…big time. Still it’s entertaining to see an epic fail in progress.
