It seems like the crazy rumors surrounding The Dark Knight Rises just won’t end. While some have become true (Talia al’Ghul, the Catwoman suit issues) others have been pretty out there, and none more than the cop John Blake played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The most crazy rumor, which is probably 100% BS, is that he’s Robin. That won’t be happening in the Nolan-verse Batman movies. But there’s a new one that could happen due to the comic storyline the movie is drawing inspiration from.

With Bane and the rumors of a spine-snapping fight between him and Batman, it looks like the story is taking large chunks from Nightfall. And if they do Bane and a wheelchair-bound Bruce Wayne, why not Azrael? That’s what the new rumor is saying.

Comic Book Movie has posted some speculation as to how John Blake may be Azrael, but they agree that it’s doubtful he’ll have a crazy costume like “Azbat” did when he filled in for Batman for a while in the comics.

Could he be Azrael? Based on the speculation, it’s a lot more likely than him becoming Robin.
