When DC did their big New 52 relaunch last year they pronounced that there would be no big company-wide crossover this summer. While Marvel is pitting the Avengers vs X-Men, there’s nothing quite that epic happening in the DC Universe this summer. Of course, that doesn’t stop them from doing a crossover in the Batman family of books.

In the first six months of the new Batman run, Bruce Wayne has discovered a secret organization built into the foundations of Gotham whose conspiracy affects his family back for generations. This Court of the Owls has introduced one of the cooler villains in the New 52 book and now it’s spilling over into all of the Batman family.

To brief people who may not be reading Scott Snyder’s awesome run on Batman right now, DC has released a free digital booklet to bring you up to speed with the limited crossover, which officially began this week in Batman #8.
