More Pointless Star Trek TV Series Talk

Another week, another story floating around the Internet about a possible Star Trek TV series. Once again, this one is coming from Bryan Fuller who has been trying to pitch a new Star Trek series with Bryan Singer for quite a while now. He was talking to Entertainment Weekly about his upcoming Munster’s reboot, and Star Trek came up:

“Bryan and I are big fans of Trek and have discussed a take on what we would do, and we would love to do it,” Fuller says. “I don’t think anything is going to happen in any official capacity until after the next movie comes out. And I’m sure it would be wisely under J.J. Abrams’ purview of what happens. He’s the guardian of Trek right now.”

I’ll just put this out there: Until you hear anything from CBS/Paramount about the desire for a small screen Star Trek, take anything like this as nothing more than a hopeful writer trying to get some publicity for a pitch he wants to make to Paramount for a series.

When they ended Enterprise and CBS took over Paramount, they had the opportunity to continue small screen Trek, but felt that movies worked better for the franchise. So until there’s a revolution in thinking over there, don’t hold your breath for a new Star Trek television series.
