It’s really hard to believe, but Street Fighter is twenty five years old. I can still remember walking into Lamppost Pizza 25 years ago with my best friend and recognizing the Street Fighter II cabinet as the sequel to the Turbo Graphix 16 Fighting Street that we played all the time. Since that release, the series has become one of the most important gaming franchises in history and Capcom is definitely going to celebrate its anniversary in style.
On September 18th Capcom will release a 25th Anniversary Box Set for the Xbox 360 and PS3 containing discs that include Super Street Fighter II HD Remix, Street Fighter III Third Strike, Super Street Fighter IV (with all DLC), and Street Fighter X Tekken (with all DLC). It’ll also include a two-disc Blu-Ray set that has every Street Fighter animated movie on it, and a massive collection of Street Fighter series soundtracks on CD. Extras include a light-up Ryu statue and a recreation of Ryu’s belt.
All of that in a pretty impressive box for $150. If you’re a hardcore Street Fighter fan, it’s a little hard to resist even if you already own the games.
