Unlike nearly every previous superhero movie, especially the Marvel ones, The Avengers doesn’t have a tie-in video game on store shelves. There has been some leaked footage from a cancelled first-person THQ Avengers game online in the past, but aside from that there’s nothing out there for people to play while they’re recovering from the geekgasm the movie gave them.

That may change as UbiSoft has registered a domain for “Avengers: Battle for Earth”. As of now all we know is that it’s a domain, and there’s no clue if it will actually be a game anyone would want to play. It could even be an iOS game as opposed to one on the consoles. It would be cool if Ubi was somehow able to salvage the cancelled THQ game as the first person gameplay made it look like a Marvel version of Metroid Prime.

While we’re at it, where’s our XBLA and PSN port of Captain America and The Avengers? We got Konami’s X-Men last year. It’s time for that other great beat-em-up to come out!
