Whedon Gives Hope for Firefly Reunion

In an interview with the LA Times Hero Complex conducted prior to The Avengers destroying every box office record in existence, Joss Whedon is asked about coming back from the sequel. His “very torn” comments on it have been blown out of proportion by sensationalist gossip sites on the Internet as it’s pretty much confirmed he’s coming back since Marvel has a sequel option on him and they’d be stupid to let him go.

But that’s not the big thing about the interview. What everyone overlooked was the Firefly comment that happened later in the piece. I guess once everyone saw The Avengers news they stopped reading as they got their hit-generating quote.

The LA Times asked him what his favorite group of characters were that he’s worked with, and his response was:

“You know, I love all my raggedy children,” he said. “But if I could be anywhere, I’d be on board Serenity.”

While there have been rumors of some kind of Firefly reunion floating around, Whedon has said in the past that he has moved on from Serenifly. This comment shows that Captain Mal’s crew is still close to his heart, and hopefully it means he may be open to doing that reunion everyone wants.
