Last week, Disney unveiled a $1 billion makeover to the build-on-the-cheap California Adventure and during the grand re-opening; Disney Parks chairman Tom Staggs was asked about their plans for Marvel. He confirms that prior to The Avengers destroying the box office they were already working on Marvel ride ideas, but now they’ve stepped up the work:
“We were hard at work on attractions using Marvel characters previously, and that work has only intensified given (the film’s) great success”
The attractions they were previously working on included the Stark Expo, which would be a replacement for the dismal Innoventions in Disneyland’s Tomorrowland…a really bad Eisner-era disaster that people avoid like the plague. Whatever they come up with, it won’t appear in Walt Disney World as Universal has exclusive theme park rights to the Marvel characters East of the Mississippi.
