You may not have heard of them, but the third Marvel movie set for release in 2014 will be animated by Disney. The excellent Blue Sky Disney blog has revealed that longtime Disney producer Don Hahn will be directing an animated version of Big Hero 6, which will likely arrive in times for the 2014 holiday season as the summer will be dominated by Captain America 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy.
Big Hero 6 is a little-known Japanese super-hero group, but Marvel has been giving them more exposure such as having them guest-star in a recent Spider-Man crossover one-shot. When that issue came out a month or so ago, I thought it was strange to see the group…but it all makes sense now if they’re making a movie with them.
As for the credibility of the Blue Sky Disney blog, Hunter has never really been wrong. And while it’s never been confirmed there’s a possibility he works for or has some very close connection to the Mouse.
