Prior to Apple changing the world yet again with the iPad, Microsoft tried their hands at making tablets. Of course, they didn’t catch on. Today MS wants a piece of the tablet pie, so they revealed their own tablet running Windows 8.

There will be two on the way, an ARM-powered one using a slimmer Windows 8 RT and eventually an Ivy Bridge i5 powered Windows 8 Pro tablet. Both will feature magnetic covers (like the iPads) only these covers will feature a keyboard.

Will these catch on? Again Microsoft is trying to play catch up with everyone else. Zune did pretty well, but didn’t really go anywhere after the Zune HD came out. Windows 7 Phone fizzled even faster. Now MS is going up against the established iPad and Android tablets. The only thing these new ones do have going for them is the horsepower and that they’re running a full version of Windows 8. Then again, it is Windows…
