John Carter hits Blu-Ray tomorrow, and to get people interested in picking up the disc Disney is releasing bits and pieces of the extras on the disc. This original opening originally showed up on Entertainment Weekly’s site and it was impossible to embed the video somewhere else. Thankfully, someone put the clip up on Youtube.

This is the original opening scene for the movie, and the clip features unfinished effects. It tries to explain the complicated history of Barsoom better than the original opening did, but I really don’t think that would have helped the movie too much. Too many press outlets (especially Deadline) were on a crusade to kill the film before it came out, and that much negative press would kill any movie.
