Despite Paramount now showing up at San Diego Comic Con this year, the sequel to JJ Abrams has a release date. It’s set for May 17th, which puts it just a couple weeks after Iron Man 3. That means Kirk and crew will be Tony Stark’s first major challenge next summer as the second Trek movie will be the first big movie to challenge Iron Man 3 at the top spot of the box office.

They also announced that the movie will see a true IMAX release as like The Dark Knight and Mission Impossible 4, many of the big action sequences were filmed in full IMAX. That means you may have to go for a bit of a drive to find a REAL IMAX screen to see it on if you want the real effect.
