Even though we haven’t heard or seen anything about del Toro’s Incredible Hulk TV series, ABC may be thinking of doing a live action Avengers series. Unlike the Hulk one that’s being worked on, this one would take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe; although none of the characters from Joss Whedon’s masterpiece will play major parts. Here’s what Deadline has to say about the possibility:
I hear that the connection to the Avengers franchise would be light as the project is expected to be set in the universe and feature some of its themes and feel, but may not include any characters from Joss Whedon’s blockbuster. I hear the project is in a nascent stage, described as “a kernel of an idea,” with a number of scenarios being explored, including a high-concept cop show.
If they want to do a series set in the Marvel universe, but with normal people…how about making a series based on Kurt Busiek and Alex Ross’s Marvels? That four issue series still gives me chills when I read it. If you’ve never checked it out, it’s the story of the Marvel universe but from the perspective of a normal photographer on the street. It’s one of the most amazing comic stories ever put to page, and if done right could be an amazing television series.
