It looks like the webslinger’s new trilogy is set in stone. The Amazing Spider-Man raked in a record $35 million yesterday, which broke the record set by Transformers back in 2007. That means it’s well on track to exceed the $150 million estimate for the long 4th of July weekend. The previous record for this weekend is also held by Transformers, which is about $155 million.
Spidey has been getting positive post-screening reviews from moviegoers as they’ve left the theater, earning it an A- CinemaScore rating. In comparison, The Avengers had an A CinemaScore so the wallcrawler isn’t too far behind. With the webhead occupying the busy holiday weekend, when people want a fun effects heavy blockbuster, it may not be tough for him to break that Transformers record.
