When The Phantom Menace was re-released in 3D earlier this year, most Star Wars fans expected that we’d get a 3D re-release of each movie around the same time. But time has past since the 3D release of Episode 1, and we haven’t heard any hint as to when the other movies would be released; if they were going to be at all. That all changed this past weekend at Celebration VI in Florida.
As part of the closing ceremonies last night, Lucas used Ian McDiarmid (in a video) to announce that Attack of the Clones 3D would release on September 20th 2013, and Revenge of the Sith 3D will follow three weeks later on October 11th.
True Star Wars fans will remember that this follows the release style of the original Special Editions, which had Star Wars re-released on Presidents Day weekend 1997 and had the other two follow about a month apart; although Jedi was delayed due to them extending the release of Empire by a couple of weeks.
With the prequels all set, does that mean we get A New Hope 3D earlier than expected in 2014?
