Over the last few months, right around the time when developers of PC games got their hands on the final code of Windows 8, more and more big name companies have been speaking out about the OS’s problems. Specifically Valve, Blizzard, and Minecraft dev Notch have spoken out about the dangers of locking down the OS. Valve is so upset that they are trying to port all 2500 Steam games over to Linux, and recently EA announced that they would bring Origin to Mac along with the new Sim City day-and-date with the PC version.
Now, it’s been revealed that Turbine is working on a OSX native client for Lord of the Rings Online. The news came out with the dropping of the NDA for LOTRO’s new Riders of Rohan expansion, with testers reporting that a native Mac client is in testing with the expansion. It’s not known for sure if the client will be released with the expansion or not, but it’s good news for people who don’t want to deal with Windows 8 this fall and are moving to a superior platform.
