Square Enix Orders Retailers to Destroy Copies of FFXIV

If you need final proof that Final Fantasy XIV is a miserable failure, Square Enix has ordered retailers to field destroy all remaining stock of the game. The finding was found by a poster on the Nazi Germany of video game message boards, NeoGaf, and while it hasn’t been officially confirmed by Square; it hasn’t been denied either.

The obvious reason for this is the reboot of FFXIV due later this year, and Square probably doesn’t want a potential new player to pick up a copy of the old and broken version instead of the new (and likely more expensive) edition. Why tempt someone with a $15 copy when you can milk $60 out of them?

If you want a collector’s item of a massive failure in the Final Fantasy franchise, good luck finding a copy as they have apparently already been pulled from shelves to be destroyed.
