Prometheus Sequel (Paradise?)

Prometheus delivered everything we wanted. It was a science fiction movie the likes of which haven’t been seen in a long time, with big ideas and some of the best 3D ever seen. The opening and closing arial shots are amazing in 3D. I loved how the movie ends, leaving the sequel wide open and the current rumor has Shaw and David’s head traveling to the Engineer’s home world, which isn’t the “Paradise” they were expecting.
Elysium

While I’d rather see a sequel to his classic District 9 (it’s been three years already!), Neill Blomkamp will give us Elysium next year and the Comic Con presentation definitely looked promising. It’s about a future society where the rich people live on a really nice space station, while the poor are stuck on a completely messed up Earth.
Godzilla

I’m going to be honest to say that I really didn’t enjoy Gareth Edward’s Monsters that much, which made me hesitant about his Godzilla. In Monsters, they didn’t actually show the Monsters until the very end of the movie; so that obviously wouldn’t work for a Godzilla film. But the teaser they showed at Comic Con displayed a classic-designed Godzilla and a big dead Kaiju with a ton of destruction. I’m pumped.
Oblivion

As with Blomkamp and Elysium, I’d rather see Joseph Kosinski do another Tron right away, but his Obilvion sounds to be an epic science fiction adventure. He managed to pull off a visually amazing Tron sequel, so if anything his futuristic epic where Tom Cruise plays a drone repairman in the years following a war with an alien race should look amazing.
Neuromancer

Even though we’re going to see a Blade Runner sequel, there’s still room for William Gibson’s cyberpunk classic to come to the big screen. This one has been in the works for a very long time, but it looks like it’ll finally happen. Who knows if the older rumor of Anakin Skywalker playing Chase will come true, but as with Ender’s Game this is one scifi book that’s long been due for a movie.
