Thor: The Dark World is about to start filming, and now rumors are brewing that another major Marvel character will be introduced in the movie. According to IndieWire’s Playlist podcast the Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Strange, will play a big part in the Thor sequel. There are rumors of who will play him, but the important thing is that this does play into plans that Marvel has been talking about for quite a while.
Doctor Strange is one of the characters that Kevin Feige has said is definitely on the way, and the mystical tones of the Thor setting can definitely lead to Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The character has also been a major Marvel character and in the last year has been given a starring role in Matt Fraction’s excellent relaunch of Defenders. That comic will be coming to an end in two months with issue #12, which leaves Doctor Strange open to star in a possible new comic under the Marvel Now! initiative.
