Last week, a Florida television station posted a gallery of images from the recent Star Wars Celebration VI convention and experienced a firestorm of anger. The reason people were so pissed was that the gallery was just used to mock Star Wars fans and make fun of them in seriously unfunny ways. Local 10 has since pulled down the gallery, but Google has at least the first image of the stupidity cached right here.
Of course, after people demanded the station be burned to the ground over that; the nameless dumbass decided to post an anonymous apology on the station’s site:
Although I’m an avid Star Wars fan, somehow I took a turn towards the dark side when assembling the web feature. The slideshow I created titled “What the Force???” stirred up emotions that were both unexpected and unintended… kind of like what George Lucas must have dealt with when he attempted to assert that Greedo had shot first.
Obviously by starting out the apology like that, it’s really hard to take it seriously at all. Even though we don’t know the name of whoever did this; they should be fired. You can make your voice be heard on the station’s Facebook page.
