The whole Kickstarter phenomenon has become something revolutionary for gaming. Through it we’ve seen a new console be funded, and we’re getting a sequel Wasteland as well as new Tex Murphy, Leisure Suit Larry, Space Quest, and Shadowrun adventures. Now one of the biggest Kickstarter projects of all time is up for funding, and while it’s already hit is main goal, there is still a month left to contribute…and if you love RPGs; you should.
Obsidian Entertainment is funding Project Eternity on Kickstarter. The creators of Fallout, Planescape: Torment, and Icewind Dale are together crafting a new fantasy RPG for the PC (and Mac and Linux of those goals are hit), and without a publisher’s interference the game is destined to be a classic computer RPG.
They have hit their main goal of $1.1 million pretty quickly, and now they’re working on additional goals to add more features and platform support for the game. This is one Kickstarter that’s received my full backing and I’ve already contributed. If you love deep RPGs with excellent systems and stories, toss a little cash Obsidian’s way!
