Peter Jackson Directing Doctor Who May Really Happen!

I got extremely hyped a few days ago when Matt Smith began to campaign for Peter Jackson to direct an episode of Doctor Who, and Jackson responded by saying he’d like to. And now, the hype is starting to heat up as the Who producers are saying that they may not be able to afford him, but they’re willing to negotiate with him:

“It is beyond wonderful that Peter is a fan of the show and it’s beyond flattering that he’d even think about it,” Ms Skinner said. “I’m absolutely sure that we couldn’t afford him but, you know, we can always negotiate. His enthusiasm is just fantastic of course.”

Based on the fact that Peter Jackson is a huge Doctor Who fan (he owns Sylvester McCoy’s costume from the series), it’s likely he’ll be willing to direct an episode for next to nothing to be able to be part of the show’s history. The producers did say that if it were to happen, it wouldn’t be until well after the 50th Anniversary Special.
