TOR Goes to Six-Week Update Schedule

When a big MMO switches over to Free 2 Play, often one of the side effects are more frequent updates. That’s because, as with LOTRO and DDO, the F2P transition caused a huge upswing in revenue, which could then be translated directly into more content. It seems like BioWare is hoping the same thing will happen with TOR, as they revealed in an interview with an Australian gaming site that they plan to release new content on a six-week schedule:

Well we’re committed to: about every six weeks, doing a major update for the game — which would be a new Warzone, a new Operation, a new Flashpoint, a new event — and to doing that on a really frequent cadence, every six weeks. So we’re going to stick to that.

Whether this will come in the form of smaller updates as opposed to huge content patches isn’t known yet, but it’s good news for those who still play The Old Republic.
