Last week, a rumor popped up that Frank Grillo would be playing Crossbones in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. This week, Variety has confirmed that the rumor is true. Crossbones will be the villain that Cap is facing off against, and Grillo is playing him. While Crossbones played a big part in the Death of Captain America storyline, it’s doubtful they’ll be going that direction. He’s more likely going to be the catalyst that causes Winter Soldier to snap out of his brainwashing and become good again.

At the same time they confirmed Crossbones, Variety also confirmed that Maria Hill will be appearing in the movie. With Nick Fury, Black Widow, and now Maria Hill; it looks like Cap will very much be a presence in S.H.I.E.L.D. even in his standlone movies. As that’s exactly how it is in the comics, they seem to be doing the right thing with the Cap sequel…
