This week, a British tabloid on their gossip page proclaimed that Emily Blunt and Ruth Wilson are up for the role of Ms. Marvel in The Avengers 2. As this is a tabloid and their gossip page, they obviously probably pulled the character name out of their ass. I’m not doubting that either actress is up for a role in the movie, I’m just doubting that it’s for Ms. Marvel.

It’s more likely it’s for Wasp.

The evidence points to Wasp being in Avengers 2. First, she was in one of Whedon’s original drafts of the first movie and he had to remove her as he couldn’t really fit her into the story. Then, when The Avengers was being released in Japan; Whedon said in two interviews that he regretted losing Wasp from the movie and that he had already added a new character to the sequel. Add in the fact that Ant Man will likely be the Phase 3 movie out right before Avengers 2, and the evidence is pointing more towards Wasp than Ms. Marvel.
