Greyskull Lives!

A few years ago, an amazing epic script for a new film adaptation of Masters of the Universe made its presence known when script reviews popped up online. The movie followed Prince Adam in a quest to destroy Skeletor and become He-Man. It was a hero’s quest along the same lines as Lord of the Rings and Conan The Barbarian (the Arnold one) and such a perfect update of the original 80′s Masters of the Universe that it got fans salivating to see it.

Sadly, it wasn’t meant to be. The project fell into development hell, and we haven’t heard anything about it for years. Most people thought it was dead, a long lost dream of an awesome He-Man movie…

Now it looks like Greyskull is alive. Variety is reporting that Sony has hired the writer of the new “Equalizer” movie (it too based on a TV show) to re-write Greyskull, and it dosn’t seem to have changed much:

Story follows a young prince who becomes a warrior and sets out to defeat the evil Skeletor and fulfill his destiny as He-Man.

Sony even has a director lined up, which is old news. But until now it was assumed that it would be a new script and not based at all on Greskull. This is definitely awesome news!
