John Carter is No Longer the Biggest SciFi Flop of 2012

Earlier this year, people loved to jump on the bash John Carter bandwagon due to it not doing too well in the box office. Andrew Stanton’s excellent adaptation of the classic scifi epic was a much better movie than the press wanted you to think, but it’s been labeled as the biggest flop of 2012. Thanks to the Wachowski’s and Cloud Atlas, that honor as moved to another movie.

The 164-minute movie, which cost well over $100 million to make, didn’t even manage to break $10 million in its opening weekend. With Bond on the horizon, you can probably expect to see Cloud Atlas on a Redbox kiosk right next to some direct-to-dvd crapfest by the end of the month. Some people are saying Cloud Atlas is amazing, but then again I’ve also heard it described as a three hour long version of the Colonel Sanders speech from The Matrix: Reloaded.

If I had to chose spending $10 to see that or see James Bond be James Bond…I’m putting my money on Bond.
