Ever see a Motorolla Droid commercial? Next time you do, take a look at the small print at the bottom of the screen. Motorolla actually did have to get permission from Lucasfilm to use the name “Droid” for their Android-powered phones. Of course, that did lead to the limited edition R2-D2 Droid phone, so it wasn’t such a bad thing, but it just shows that despite it being such a commonly used terms these days; it came from Star Wars.
