Star Citizen Hit Kickstarter

Chris Robers has been croudfunding his new space combat sim via his official site since its announcement, but due to demand he’s also placed it on Kickstarter. He has a $500,000 goal with about thirty days to go, and when the game was originally announced it was said that there are investors ready to pour in the cash if they’re able to raise that much. In order to get a copy of the game itself, the minimum pledge is $30 with various rewards going up from there.

Will he hit the goal? If you like scifi and gaming, you’d better hope so. Space combat sims have been a long dead genre, but in the past its given us TIE Fighter, Privateer, and Freespace. If this game turns out as amazing as it sounds, maybe it can revive the genre and Lucasarts would do a remake or new version of TIE Fighter, which is still the best Star Wars game ever made.
