With the release of Windows 8 last week, the rebellion has officially begun. A few months ago, Gabe Newell of Valve said that they would work to convert all 2500 games on Steam over to Linux, and now the first step towards that is being taken. This comes after gaming industry news site Gamasutra posted a list of concerns form game developers who feel Windows 8 is going to hurt the PC gaming industry.
Valve has began taking applicants for the Valve Linux beta. You’ll need to have an existing Steam account (which is free, if you don’t already have one) and obviously be running Linux (which is also free in most cases). There’s a bit of a survey to take as part of the application process, but if you want to be part of the beginning of the PC gaming rebellion; here’s the start.
