Tuesday’s shocking sale of Lucasfilm to Disney sent snarky Star Wars fans to spamming Twitter with endless and annoying Disney Princess Leia jokes and complaints that George Lucas was raping their childhood all over again. But how does Luke Skywalker himself feel about it? Entertainment Weekly asked him about the whole situation, and he explained that George broke the news about the sequel trilogy to him last summer over lunch, and while he was initially shocked he says it makes sense the more you think about it:
I’m anxious to know what’s going on, but the main story [yesterday] was the sale to Disney. I have mixed feelings about that, but they haven’t done badly by Marvel and the Muppets and Pixar. It’s one of those big decisions that at first seems unusual but then the more you look at it, the more it makes sense.
To Luke, you listen! All you have to do is look at how awesome the Marvel movies are now (The Avengers, anyone?) to see that Star Wars is in very good hands.
