Over the last few months, Spider-Man writer Dan Slott has been teasing Amazing Spider-Man #700 as such a huge change for the book that he may have to go into hiding. Later we learned that issue #698 would be the start of the earth-shattering changes that will lead to a new non-Peter Parker Spider-Man in Superior Spider-Man #1. Today #698 hits store shelves, so what’s the big surprise?

Peter Parker gives up being Spider-Man. Because he has a life now. He has a good job, he’s getting closer to MJ, so he just doesn’t need to be Spidey anymore. Why is he doing this?

HOLY SHIT.

Doc Ock, dying, swaps his mind with Peter. He doesn’t reveal how he does it, but as Ock’s body lies dying, Paker’s mind is trapped in the fading body while Ock is walking around as Peter/Spidey.

I can’t wait to see how this plays out, and Dan Slott is seriously going to need to go into hiding once more people see this.
