When the new Riddick was announced, the news that it would be a “hard R” was pretty well accepted. The darker R-rated Pitch Black was much better than the watered down PG-13 Chronicles of Riddick. They were always saying that Riddick would be closer to Pitch Black in tone and content, and now we know a bit more about why it’s rated R. Collider interviewed Katee Sckhoff and asked her about Riddick, this is why it’ll be rated R:
“There’s a shitload of blood and there’s little pieces of nudity, here and there. There’s my nudity too, but it’s side boob, for three to five seconds. It’s not that big of a deal. It’s mostly for the language. My character and Matt Nable’s character say fuck, like every other word. It’s kind of fantastic, actually. He must have said fuck 15 times, in every single scene. It’s pretty awesome. So, it’s mostly for language. “
Blood, language, and side-boob. Everything you’d want when paying $12 for a movie ticket these days.
