If you’re one of those LOTR fans who hate the changes Jackson & crew did with the trilogy, get ready for a whole new trilogy to infuriate you. Faramir taking the Ring to Gondor and Aragorn not wanting the crown may seem small potatoes compared to the changes on the way in The Hobbit. Warner has released the first official clip from The Hobbit and it’s of a scene completely different from the book. When this came out, I immediately got a very angry IM from my best friend; who is one of those purists who hates the changes in the first trilogy…

In the book, Bilbo discovers Sting on his own using his burgling skills… This clip is completely different as Gandalf gives Sting to Bilbo. I’m really baffled by this change and I look forward to the commentary on the Extended Edition Blu-Ray where Jackson or Boyens can explain why they did this as it removes a major plot point of the original story.
