Could the 60′s Batman Series Finally Come to DVD in 2013?

Last year, at the annual Wizard World Anahiem convention; they held an anniversary reunion of the surviving cast from the 60′s Batman show. Of course one of the biggest questions asked was where the DVDs of the show were, and Adam West’s answer was that it basically came down to money. Everyone wanted a piece of the pie and they couldn’t figure out how to slice it up. Not long after that, it was revealed that Fox and Warner had worked out a licensing deal for merchandise for the series, which raised some eyebrows.

Now, Coming Soon has discovered that Mattel plans to release a line of toys based on the 60′s Adam West series next year:

“The 1960′s Classic Batman TV Series line,” the magazine reports, “which will be released next year, is based on the original television series starring Adam West and Burt Ward.”

They wouldn’t be producing a line of toys for the series if there hasn’t been some progress on brining the classic series to disc. This could bode very well for finally seeing the entire original series on DVD in 2013. The movie based on the series has been available on DVD and Blu-Ray for years, but the actual series is one of the TV on DVD Holy Grails.
