Federal Judge Slaps Superman Heirs

It looks like DC and Warner have have a firm victory in their on-going legal battle with the heirs led by lawyer Marc Toberoff. Oh Danny Boy has posted the legal document from the Federal Judge, who basically bitch slapped the heirs and Taberoff and told them to go home and stop bugging DC.

“…the copyright termination notice served by the Estate of Joseph Shuster on November 10, 2003, is deemed invalid and ineffective,”

and

“…rights-encumbering agreements—including the 2001 Pacific Pictures agreement, 2003 Pacific Pictures agreement, and 2008 consent agreement—are deemed invalid and unenforceable.”

Both of those mean that the heirs don’t have a leg to stand on anymore. Naturally an appeal has been filed, but this is a huge victory for DC and Warner and ensures that Superman will remain a part of the DC Universe and not be stolen away to some universe of his own anytime soon.
