Now that JJ Abrams officially has the director job on Episode VII, it seems like he can’t step out of the house without someone asking him about it. E! Online grabbed him on a red carpet and didn’t get anything of note out of him, while The Huffington Post asked him about Star Wars and his statement is something that should ease the minds of the Internet that is still freaking out over him getting the job:

“You know, obviously, it’s so early,” he replied. “I can just say what I want to do: I want to do the fans proud. I want to make sure the story is something that touches people. And we’re just getting started. I’m very excited.”

What many of the people having heart attacks on internet message boards don’t understand is that Abrams is a fanboy at heart. He’s cut from the same 70s/80s Spielberg & Lucas cloth every other fan of the Original Trilogy is. He knows what made those movies classics, so I have no fear that he’s going to deliver an amazing Episode VII. Having Kasdan on board as an adviser will only make it even more amazing.
