A couple of months ago a rumor sparked Guillermo del Toro to pursue a movie based around DC’s supernatural heroes. A rumor popped up on Latino Review about it, but at the time del Toro wasn’t even thinking of such a movie. But the idea sounded so cool to him that he decided to pursue it, and it appears as if even Warner was game for bringing those characters together in a movie, and he’s now confirmed to IGN that “Dark Universe” is underway with discussions in progress with a writer.

While it won’t use the Justice League title, the movie does sound like it’s taking the core characters from that book. In the New 52, Justice League Dark unites the supernatural characters from the DC Universe in a team book of sorts. With the most recent issue, it’s become one of the most popular titles DC has; so the timing for this movie seems to be pretty perfect.
