Yesterday, a report popped up on Vulture saying the Zack Snyder was developing a Star Wars movie unrelated to Episode VII. It would apparently be set after Episode VI, and not come out until sometime after Episode VII. Seven Samurai would be the inspiration, which means it would probably involve seven Jedi defending a planet. Not long after that report, Snyder’s people denied it to the Hollywood Reporter:
“While he is super-flattered because he is a huge fan, Zack is not involved in any way with the new Star Wars. He is currently in post on his two films, Man of Steel and 300: Battle of Artemisia.”
That means no Episode VII, VIII or IX and no offshoot movies, the rep confirms.
While some people are hoping it’s just a denial because Lucasfilm doesn’t want it announced yet, they were very specific to say no offshoot movies. Also, Snyder is pretty well ingrained into Warner Brothers now with his production company there and his current and future movies all being released by Warner.
