Yesterday we learned that JJ Abrams has completed the Episode VII script, and at the same time he confirmed that he has spoken to Jesse Plemons about a role in the next Star Was movie. Now more information is coming out and Abrams has confirmed that the plan is to start filming in May, and revealed when we’ll finally he casting information.
USA Today was at the same event where Abrams revealed the news about the script and Plemons, and asked him about the rumored May start date:
“That’s the current plan,” Abrams said while stopping by the Television Critics Association winter press tour to discuss Believe, a new NBC drama (March 10, 10 p.m. ET/PT) he is producing with Gravity director Alfonso Cuaron . “We have our script and we’re full steam ahead. Have script, will travel.”
They then asked him about casting and he said:
“We can’t talk about story yet,” said the director, who plans to travel to England soon to begin work on the seventh film in the long-running saga. As far as casting, he had no details but said they will come “soon, and I look forward to that so that we can get past it and we can get on with it.”
I’d imagine all the crazy (and likely false) Star Wars casting rumors, such as this weekend’s whopper of Judi Dench as Mon Mothma, make Abrams laugh. It’ll be nice to get the truth out there finally…
