It appears the tide is starting to turn against those angry fans who have spent years endlessly bashing Lucas and both the Prequels and Special Editions. After Lucasfilm smashed their hopes and dreams of them ignoring the Prequels by putting a lot of Prequel stuff in Rebels & Rogue One, now Mark Hamill has come out to address the hatred that has been spewed towards George Lucas for nearly twenty years.
The comments from from a video interview that Vuture posted on Facebook (you can find it below) and Hamill starts in address the Prequels directly and the hate that people had towards the movies:
“I couldn’t believe some of the things they wrote about the Prequels. Really beyond ‘I didn’t like it.’ ‘You ruined my childhood’ [laughs]”
He then felt really sorry for how people treated Jake Lloyd, and most Star Wars fans know what’s happened to him in the years following him being crucified by angry fans on the internet:
“I’m still angry about the way they treated Jake Lloyd. He was only ten years old, that boy, and he did exactly what George wanted him to do. Believe me, I know clunky dialog.”
Remember that stupid “The People vs George Lucas” documentary that the “raped my childhood” crowd produced? It turns out they nearly tricked Hamill into appearing in it:
“I almost got hornswoggled into that documentary. They weren’t calling it ‘The People vs George Lucas’ at the time. But I could tell from the questions they were asking me that it was an open invitation to trash George. And I have issues with George, but I love that man I would never…you know I don’t talk outside the family. It’s just brutal…”
